San Clemente boys wrestling loses to Etiwanda by one point in CIF-SS dual meet finals

The San Clemente boys wrestling team lost to Etiwanda 34-33 on Wednesday in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 dual meet championships at Etiwanda High School.

It was the Tritons’ first dual-meet loss. They finished the dual-meet season 19-1.

Three San Clemente wrestlers won their matches via pins: junior Caydin Chan at 108 pounds, sophomore Kelan Stever at 165 pounds and senior Dylan Henry at 195 pounds.

Liam Carroll, a junior, scored a dramatic win for San Clemente at 175 pounds. Down by four points with 15 seconds remaining, Carroll put together five points with a near fall to get the victory.

The CIF-SS Individual Wrestling Championships will be held Feb. 9-10. San Clemente will compete in the Eastern Division in the six-division championships.
