FULLERTON — The Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball team has a three-game winning streak.
DJ Brewton had a game-high 17 points and Tory San Antonio had a near double-double as Fullerton hammered Cal State Bakersfield, 68-50, on Saturday night at Titan Gym.
Brewton shot 6 for 12 from the field for the Titans (11-10 overall, 4-5 Big West), while San Antonio added 12 points and nine rebounds, going 3 for 6 from 3-point range. Max Jones had nine points and five rebounds, John Mikey Square had seven points and five rebounds and freshman Kendrick De Luna scored a career-high six points, making all three of his shots in 11 minutes.
The Titans led from the outset and a pair of free throws and two 3-pointers from San Antonio helped them take a 20-14 lead. Fullerton shot 5 for 11 from behind the arc in the first half and opened a 38-25 advantage by halftime.
The Titans remained hot from long range after the break, with San Antonio and Jones each making one to extend the lead to 46-27.
The Roadrunners (8-12, 3-6) produced a 9-2 run before De Luna scored down low while being fouled, for a 50-36 Fullerton lead. The Titans took control from there, leading by as much as 24 points.
Fullerton shot 41.3% overall (19 for 46) and finished 8 for 23 from 3-point range and 22 for 32 from the free-throw line.
Kaleb Higgins paced the Roadrunners with 11 points and five steals, while Dalph Panopio had 10 points.
Bakersfield shot just 29.3% (17 for 58) and 2 for 16 from behind the arc while making 14 of 17 free throws. The Roadrunners had just four assists to go with 13 turnovers.
