Legoland California is tearing a page from Disneyland’s playbook with plans to build a Space Mountain-like indoor coaster in a Tomorrowland-style themed land.
The new Lego Galaxy themed land is expected to debut in 2025 at the Carlsbad theme park, according to planning documents submitted to the city.
“The new attraction area will have a ‘space’ theme where park guests will train for space exploration, meet other intergalactic travelers and blast off on missions into the Lego Galaxy,” according to city planning documents.

The space themed land still remains in the “initial concept” phase of development, Legoland officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Carlsbad Planning Commission has recommended approval of the Lego Galaxy project that now moves to the Carlsbad City Council for approval.
The galactic themed indoor launched roller coaster will send riders on an exploratory mission into the uncharted Lego Galaxy in custom Lego spacecraft, according to the backstory for the ride.
The family coaster would be housed inside a 44-foot-tall, 32,000-square-foot “space port.”

The indoor coaster building would also include a Lego brick building attraction and a retail shop.
The Lego Galaxy themed land would also feature a 24-passenger spinner-type ride with three cantilevered arms and an alien spaceship themed children’s playground.
The new Lego Galaxy land will replace the Driving School attractions in the Lego City land of the park.
The popular Legoland driving school tracks will be rebuilt in another area of the park — replacing the Fun Town Police and Fire Academy attraction.
Legoland California has already announced plans for the new Dino Valley land set to debut in 2024 with the new dinosaur themed safari ride and river expedition journey joining the existing Coastersaurus kiddie coaster.
