Santiago Hills development delayed until 2019

Construction of Santiago Hills II, a 1,180-home development planned for Orange, will be delayed until 2019 while the Irvine Co. focuses its efforts elsewhere.

The Irvine Co. is turning its attention for now on new home communities in north Irvine.

Approved by the Orange City Council in July, Santiago Hills II would add a 396-acre master-planned neighborhood to the city’s eastern edge, near where Santiago Canyon and Jamboree roads meet.

The project calls for low- to medium-density residential developments – primarily single-family homes – spaced along and in-between the two streets.

Work planned for 2017 will now all be put on hold until 2019, including vegetation clearing, grading, construction and home building.
