An update to this story is here: Delivery associate identified as suspect in Mission Viejo Amazon warehouse stabbing
An employee at a Mission Viejo Amazon warehouse was in critical condition after she was stabbed at work on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was called to an Amazon facility in Mission Viejo at 25725 Jeronimo Road around 9:25 a.m. on a report of a stabbing, Sgt. Michael Woodroof said.
The woman was stabbed in the torso. She was treated and transported by paramedics to a hospital, where she was in critical condition.
A suspect surrendered, Woodroof said.
The area in the warehouse where the stabbing occurred was shut down for an investigation, he said, but the rest of the warehouse was operating normally.
It is unclear if the suspect is an employee at the warehouse, or if they knew the victim. Authorities are investigating how they got inside the facility.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
