Yelp has revealed its 10th annual Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States, which features 28 California restaurants, the most of any state, with 17 of those being restaurants in L.A., O.C., and Riverside counties, including the top spot.
The list, released Wednesday, Jan. 25, is curated by a combination of community suggestions, reviews, ratings and geographic representation based on an equal share of submissions of top-rated restaurants nationally, according to Yelp. Food trucks, delis and cafés are also taken into consideration, not just restaurants.
This year’s top spot went to Downtown L.A.’s Broken Mouth, a Hawaiian-Korean fusion eatery located in a food hall and serving classics like spam musubi and Hawaiian-style meat jun (thinly sliced beef with an egg batter). On Yelp, Broken Mouth has a 5-star rating and more than 1,300 reviews.
For the first time in the list’s history, island cuisine dominated the top five spots. Kaaloa’s Super Js Authentic Hawaiian in Captain Cook, Hawaii and Adela’s Country Eatery in Kaneohe, Hawaii took the second and fifth spots.
