A whole group of people welcomed the new year with a shiver on Monday.
At the strike of noon, beachgoing revelers ran from the sandy shore into the freezing ocean water for the annual Surf City Splash.
The popular New Year’s Day event washes off the old and celebrates the fresh beginning of the year ahead, while also helping to raise money for the Surfrider Foundation’s North Orange County chapter.
